Bella Cosa
A lakeside house of 1925 on the shore of Lake Pierce, once host to a sitting American president.
Stockbridge holds Bella Cosa within The Gilchrist Collection, on the Florida lakefront, where it joined the collection in 2023.
Provenance
Built in 1925 as the Lake Pierce Club, the house received actors, entertainers and a sitting American president. It was renamed The Bonaire in the nineteen-forties and operated as a hotel into the late nineteen-sixties.
In 2016 it was acquired and extensively restored, its oak flooring and period walls returned to their original state, and renamed Bella Cosa before joining The Gilchrist Collection in 2023.
The Grounds
The house holds direct frontage on Lake Pierce, with a private dock extending over the water, a landscaped terrace, manicured gardens with a sweeping staircase to the lakeside and mature oak trees of significant scale.
Within
The Ballroom, beneath its original crystal chandeliers and grand arched lakeside doors, forms the principal room. The house holds ten furnished rooms and suites.
Stockbridge holds Bella Cosa for the long term, a lakeside house of memory maintained and stewarded rather than realised.
