Stockbridge holds Fuel Fixer within the Technology and Infrastructure portfolio. It is the national number one in its field, and the foundation of the house’s automotive engineering platform.

The Operation

From a single operator, Fuel Fixer has grown to cover every county of the United Kingdom, together with Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and continental Europe. It has completed nearly two hundred and fifty thousand recoveries since 2009, at a national average response of forty-six minutes and a completion rate of 98.3 percent, supported by a call centre that does not close. It holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and is accredited by the Environment Agency.

Engineering

The business engineered its own technology for extracting and flushing contaminated fuel at the roadside, without recourse to a garage. It pioneered a method for the modern vehicle, whose safety features resist a complete evacuation of the tank, and developed a proprietary aftercare additive to protect engine components after a misfuelling.

Its work runs from petrol in a diesel engine and diesel in a petrol engine to AdBlue contamination, a technically demanding service that few competitors will undertake.

The Thesis

Misfuelling is constant, and the road does not pause. The work that returns a driver to it is national, recurring, and long overlooked by institutional capital. Fuel Fixer consolidated that work into a single operation of scale, and holds the position of national leader.
